I SAW

the rain showed no sign of stopping
his body bore no evidence of moving
he anxiously waited for his loved one
his senses absorbed every movement like a sponge

every sight of a train made his heart flutter
he'd rush near the platform one after another
still there's no sign of a familiar face
don't tell me he's not coming - his heart raced

he sat on the bench from dawn till dusk
his hot coffee had gone cold inside his flask
his spirit went so low - he's disappointed
he waited all day - his time was wasted

he stayed until the last train arrived
just forget it, he said - he broke down and cried
a tap on the shoulder killed his sobs instantly
it was his boyfriend - he smiled gladly

they left the station hand in hand
in the absence of the crowd that came and went
they shared the coffee - cold and bitter
before heading home for something warmer

stars came out from their hidings after the rain
still that wouldn't suffice to ease my pain
i left alone - soaking wet
my longing for him would never set
